100+ Teachers Inspired at Sunshine’s Training

Last week, 14 orphanages and organizations gathered for our Sunshine Academy National Training at the Zhengzhou Children’s Welfare Institute. For five days our Sunshine Academy team trained, inspired and encouraged 109 teachers and leaders equipping them with skills and methods to better serve our Sunshine Academy kids.

Australian Rachel Gilmore, director of an early intervention center for autistic children in Kunming gave a groundbreaking training on Special Education principles and methods. One Sunshine teacher commented, “Rachel’s affirmation of special educators reminded us that the work we do is very meaningful and valuable, this is a big encouragement for us all!”

American Hilary Wilcox, California Kids Club Head Counselor presented teaching methods for art, music and theme teaching. The Sunshine Academy team presented our foundational basic philosophies as well as our newest training on teaching Life Skills.

Special education is still just beginning in China. We hope to continue to learn, discuss and practice with the teachers of the Social Welfare Centers to enhance our ability in special education to give high-quality, professional education to the disabled children at the centers.
