Sunshine Academy’s Zhengzhou Consulting Program is underway.

Sunshine Academy was established in Zhengzhou in 2016 and developed by our project directors and summer camp teams working onsite with the teachers and students for over 3 years. In 2019 the program transitioned to be independently led by the local leaders. Since that time Sunshine Academy has continued to support the Sunshine Academy school in Zhengzhou through ongoing training opportunities. But in April 2022, we rejuvenated our partnership through our Consulting Program which will reach 55 teachers. Special Education Director Rachel Gilmour has already begun training these eager teachers who impact the daily lives of 288 students.

At the opening ceremony of our Zhengzhou Consulting Program, Zhengzhou Center Director Zhao reflected on the impact of our past cooperation and the value of this renewed relationship. “In this process, we feel that we have learned a lot, and the cooperation with Sunshine School has made a very, very big improvement to the special education of our entire welfare organization. Through our cooperation, we also feel that our Sunshine Academy school is very professional in the education of special children at this welfare institution.  From the initial work of director of Heidi Olson to the current training from Ms. Mo [Rachel Gilmour], it can be said that they are all big names in the special education field of our welfare organization.  We feel that working with them and learning from them has been very rewarding.”

We are grateful for the continuation of this powerful partnership with the Zhengzhou Center and are moved by their commitment to meeting the individual needs of their students. We are honored to work shoulder-to-shoulder with these directors and teachers once again to love and educate their children.
